Happy Thanksgiving and a Post About Food

First of all, we would like to wish all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving! In honor of the fact that this American holiday is centered around food, we thought we’d share five quick tips about food on the Carnival fleet.

  1. Must Have Food Upon Embarkation: Anyone who has ever sailed on a Carnival ship knows that the happening eatery on embarkation day is Guy’s Burger Joint. (Yes, we are talking about Guy as in Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives fame.) Word of advice from a recent mishap our youngest had – if you are enjoying your Guy’s Burger out on one of the decks before sail-away, keep an eye out on for seagulls; they apparently like Guy’s Burgers too!
  2. So Many Choices: Dinners and brunches on the ships are offered free of charge in the Main Dining Room and are definitely worth partaking in. However, there are so many other options to choose from that unless you are on a transatlantic cruise, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to try them all. You can try some of the many options in the buffet or check out one of the many unique eateries on each ship. For early port mornings, our recommendation is Blue Iguana Cantina for “make it your way” breakfast tacos and burritos. Best of all, it’s included in your cruise fare! Looking for some amazing fresh seafood for lunch and don’t mind spending a little? You must eat at the Seafood Shack if your ship has it!
  3. Steakhouse: Speaking of choices, you definitely need to try the Steakhouse on whatever Carnival ship you sail on. The steakhouse does cost extra but is quite reasonable (currently $49 for adults and $15 for children 11 and under) and well worth the money. It’s also the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion!
  4. Green Eggs & Ham: Yes, you can order green eggs and ham, or even green bacon at the Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast. While there is an added per person fee (currently $15 for adults and $10 for kids), the experience is definitely a must if you have little ones in tow.
  5. Insider Tip: The food in the Main Dining Room is pretty awesome in general and on elegant nights, the menu is stepped up even a bit more! One of the best things, however, is that you can actually order multiple appetizers and/or desserts, as well as two entrees and not pay anything extra (aside from the clearly labeled premium dishes on the menu). Should you wish to order a third entree, the fee is small. Our personal favorite is certain elegant nights when we like to order both a lobster tail and prime rib (two separate appetizers) without any added expense!
